Mike Molnar is a versatile open source practitioner. He has extensive IT experience with implementing projects, migrating systems, updating systems, and solving and explaining complex enterprise problems. He launched Skedzy Inc. to help companies improve profitability and security by adopting open source solutions. Companies can improve the efficiency, productivity and retention of system administration teams by engaging system administration consultants to assist with project backlogs and problem overload.

Over my tenure at Signet, I was one of many associates who contributed to growing the company from $1.6 billion in revenue (Jan 2002) to $6 billion in revenue (Jan 2019).

  • Applied IBM fixpacks to WebSphere instances.
  • Analyzed application server heap dumps and javacores and searched for root causes.
  • Maintained certificates for IBM WebSphere deployment managers and application servers.
  • Suppported Oracle Hyperion, OC4J, Weblogic and ERPD production servers.
WebSphere Administrator (2013-2018)
  • Developed a multiple personality script to stop and start e-commerce application servers.
  • Supported Nagios monitors and processes.
  • Tuned e-commerce application servers for performance and resilience.
  • Analyzed network packet captures.
  • Installed AppDynamics agents, instrumented app servers where needed.
Senior Unix System Administrator (2006 – 2013)
  • Migrated Credit Recovery from a Unisys mainframe to a web based client server architecture. Served as technical lead for the migration, stress tests and tuning.
  • Administered Micro Focus Enterprise Server.
  • Participated in annual corporate disaster recovery tests (2009 – 2014).
  • Full stack discovery of the architecture of the Credit Decision System. Presented to the technical services and application teams.
Unix System Administrator (2002 – 2006)

Served as primary system administrator for the HP-UX servers that supported accounting (including payroll), credit, collections, credit decision support, repair and merchandise forecasting.


Marconi Medical Systems – Highland Hts, OH 2000 – 2001
Principal Engineer

  • Primarily supported the manufacture and enhancement of the Intellistore medical imaging server. The Intellistore was a DICOM compliant medical image archive that comprised a Solaris or Linux server, an Oracle database, Image Devices’ ID.store image archive software, and an archival library (DVD or tape).
  • Streamlined the Intellistore manufacturing process
  • Consistently met shipping deadlines
  • Facilitated the purchase of over $1 million of special order components

Trans World Entertainment – North Canton, OH 1999 – 2000
Unix Administrator

Designed, implemented and documented an inter-corporate file relay server and installed it at Trans World Entertainment headquarters in Albany, NY. The interface of the relay server allowed the operations team to request and confirm all transfers as well as peruse the logs of past transfers.


Camelot Music Holdings, Inc. – North Canton, OH 1997 – 1999
Unix Administrator

  • Supported a combination of HP-UX, Solaris, and NT systems in a 2+ TB data center that served a 500 store music & video retail chain.
  • Supported the creation, loading, and maintenance of Camelot’s first data warehouse: including POS history for all stores, inventory changes for all merchandise, and customer loyalty points. This system won for Camelot the 1998 Retail Innovation Technology Award (Top Winner, Large Retailer).
  • Administered 30 HP-UX systems and supported HP back offices in 500 stores.
  • Supported CA Unicenter 1.1. Migrated to TNG 2.1.

Caliber Logistics / FedEx Logistics – Hudson, OH 1995 – 1997
System Administrator II

  • Supported 600 developers and users, including the Rite Routing groups and logistics specialists for major auto and computer manufacturers.
  • Supported and enhanced perl scripts that automatically transferred files between Unix and AS/400 and between Unix and ES9000 systems.
  • Wrote scripts that monitored disk space and memory usage on 20 Unix systems.
  • Developed a disk usage model for an EDI intensive application for a major computer manufacturer.

Telxon Corporation – Fairlawn, OH 1988 – 1995
System Administrator

  • Administered five Unix systems that supported 400 users: analysts, technicians, developers and engineers.
  • Installed financial applications for Oracle.
  • Wrote backup procedures.
  • Wrote utilities to report on resource usage: CPU, disk, memory.
  • Participated in an eight member task group that benchmarked a Sequent Unix host to replace an IBM 9121 and satisfy future corporate computing needs.
  • Justified and acquired a Class B IPv4 network for the corporation.
